Three, Super Quick, she says!

Hey everyone, Anne-Marie here, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and school holidays... and trust that all your little darlings are settling back into school. Hard to believe it is the end of February already. I don’t know about you but life is so busy and the year seems to be flying past so I have created a couple of super quick, simple and fun layouts this month.

I always love LOs that just come together easily. This one is literally a few scraps of left over October Afternoon papers, a bit of printed vellum that’s been floating around my scrap room for months, a stray 3x4 filler card from the Becky Higgins’ Project Life Honey Core Kit and some gorgeous little bits of Your Creative Wings chipboard that have been sitting on my desk waiting patiently for me. Raw chipboard will always be my “go to” to add that little finishing touch to simple layouts. Too easy and they just work.  These Love Candy circles are my new favourite. I really love Ali Edwards’ and Cathy Z’s approach to documenting their lives and so I am going with a “get back to basics”, tell the story style to my scrapbooking this year.

I love this range of Kaisercraft Shine Bright papers. This was a left over photo from Christmas day and I just love it. It captures my darling boy and his wonderful spirit perfectly so I wanted to add it to his album. Not exactly traditional Christmas colours but I really love how this turned out. Again a Love Candy and (still a favourite) Printer’s Fist from Your Creative Wings make the perfect finishing touches.

Hello There

Once again inspired by Ali E’s I created a little extra page for  my 2014 Project Life album. This gold printed vellum was part of the packaging from the Webster’s Pages Accessory wallet. The company started in 1986... the same year I started going out with my husband! How perfect is this? I just typed "the story of us" onto kraft cardstock and sewed it over the "Webster's Pages" logo. I turned a Becky Higgins’ 5x7 photo sleeve into a giant shaker pocket.

I added our family name in Your Creative Wings mini Alpha #2 and used yet another Love Candy to complete my 2014 Project Life album cover page.

As I have mentioned before I used Becky Higgins’ Project Life Midnight Core Kit for almost my entire 2014  album. I added our family name in Your Creative Wings Alpha #2 and used yet another icon circle to complete my cover page.

I hope you find some inspiration in these pages and can find some creative time to get some of your life documented. I am really enjoying this simple approach this year and can see this working for me. Photos and stories with  Your Creative Wings chipboard for the perfect finishing touch is my idea of heaven.

Damask beauty from Jodie

Hi Your Creative Wings friends, Jodie with you today and I'm very excited to have had the chance to play with the gorgeous New Release, they're simply stunning!

Love You

I snapped this lovely photo of my Grandma and cousin on the way home from my Uncle's wedding a couple of years back. With various shades of purple currently making a return to favor in scrapbooking products, it was the perfect opportunity to dedicate a layout to this favorite photo.

I've used the two March papers from Graphic 45's A Time to Flourish collection, and a soft Pion Designs paper as a neutral background.

The new YCW Damask Background chippy is just gorgeous!  It's so detailed and so very pretty.  I've also used the largest piece from the new Doilyz Nest and the Love You scripted title.

I've drawn inspiration from both Sue's and Rikki's techniques from their recent blog posts for my title.  I've dripped Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist straight onto the chipboard for a beautiful shimmery effect Sue's technique and layered the title directly over my flower cluster Rikki's technique

I wanted the Damask Background  to really pop off the page, and used Versa Colour Ink in the bright and rich Boysenberry to ink directly onto the chipboard.

I always seem to get glue everywhere, but found an easy way to adhere the Damask Background  to my layout was to use a sponge to apply PVA glue to the back of the chippy before adhering it to the page.  I found this gave good coverage without any excess glue seeping out from the edges of the intricate design.

I've used the largest of the Doilyz Nest pieces.  This is a great value chippy, with 6 individual Doilys in one piece of chipboard.  I applied two coats of a Jo Sonja's background paint in cream.  Jo Sonja's background paints are specially designed for base coating and give great coverage, so I didn't need to prime this piece with Gesso. I then heat embossed with clear embossing powder for a nice gloss finish.

Other Products Used:  Graphic 45 A Time to Flourish patterned paper, Pion Design A Day in May patterned paper, Bazzill cardstock, vellum, Prima Marketing Inc flowers, Green Tara flowers, lace, ribbon, gauze, twine, Prima Marketing Inc stamp, Versa Colour Ink in Boysenberry and Bamboo, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap & Antique Linen, Jo Sonja's background paint, Kaisercraft pearls, clear embossing powder, Fiskars edge punch, thread, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Pop Rocks & Silver Sugar.

Beautiful

My second layout features my beautiful niece Milly on her third birthday.  She was dressed as a fairy and even had a special fairy braid in her hair.  I wanted to create the soft and gentle feeling of a fairy garden around her.

I've used the Wrought Iron Clock as a base and added several layers.  I've heat embossed it in white and then added a butterfly punched from turquoise vellum, another butterfly stamped with black Stazon Ink over acetate and then fussy cut, a heart charm, a teeny tiny banner and a flower.  I've then added some bling and tied some satin seam binding to finish it off.

The Beautiful script title I've treated in one of my favourite ways with two layers of gesso and some Kindyglitz in Crystalina.

As with so many YCW chippy pieces, Key to my Heart Charm can be separated so that different mediums can be applied easily to different parts of the chippy design.  I've separated out the inner piece of the heart and base coated in gesso before applying Mod Podge and white glitter.  Once pieced back together I've added one of the Mini Butterflies to the top of the charm and added some bling.

To create the marbled effect on the Ornate Frame 17 and Charm I base coated in gesso before applying pink acrylic paint.  I wasn't happy with the colour at that stage so added a few dabs of gesso with my fingertips and this created the two toned or marbled effect.  Once dry I added Glossy Accents for a beautiful gloss finish.  I love how these pieces turned out.

Other Products Used:  Webster's Pages Nest Collection patterned paper, Coredinations Cardstock, Maggie Holmes Open Book gold foil vellum, Doodlebug Design vellum, EK Success edge punch, Martha Stewart butterfly punch, Prima Marketing Inc & Kaisercraft stamps, Stazon ink, acetate, acrylic paint, gesso, white embossing powder, Glossy Accents, Kindy Glitz in Crystalina, Prima Marketing Inc Say It In Crystals, My Two Angels crystal circle and heart, satin seam binding, Prima Marketing Inc flowers, Green Tara flowers, Manor House Creations leaves, gold thread, Whipped Spackle, Caran d'Ache Neocolour in Golden Yellow, Gelato in Watermelon, LuminArte Twinkling H2O in Peppermint Taffy, Lindy's Stamp Gang Flat Fabio in Chateau Rose & Bonjour Butter, lace, ZVA Creative pearl flourishes, white glitter, Tim Holtz Distress Ink.

So Darn cute

Good Morning, Rikki here for my first ever post of Your Creative Wings !!!!. I am so happy to join the team with these talented ladies.....

Today I am sharing something a little girly with a nice corner cluster of flowers and layering some stunning pieces of Your Creative Wings chipboard.

For me its all about height when doing large flower clusters once you achieve the clusters you want, then its about adding details like the Your Creative Wings - Key to My Heart Charm Set, these bend and manipulate around your cluster really well so there's nothing to worry about when adhering them on the flowers.

A handy tip is when you have some smaller chipboard why not go to your local hardware store and grab some good quality spray paints, and just spray your chipboard for a quick cover.

Your Creative Wings products used -  Key to My Heart Charm Set  YCW12013,  Scallop Heart Set YCW12008,  Words - You are Loved YCW1058, Geo Pointers - Heart & Home YCW4007
Well I hope that I have inspired you.....

Till next time,
Have a creative day

Lets find some Mojo

We're just a tad late with our beginning of the month blog post. Lots goes on in February for us Mums at YCW's, the biggest of the jobs is getting the kidlets back to school for the new school year. It's now the second week schools been back, so those of you with kids that have gone back to school, I hope you're falling back into routine and finding some creative time to do the things you love.
Maybe sharing what Sue's been up to might help get your mojo to get going and further down the post we share some new goodies at Your Creative Wings that will hopefully help even more.

Don't forget you can now buy our chippy retail from us at the above link.

Here's what Sue's been up to.

Hi everyone, it’s Sue here with you today sharing a simple technique for colouring your chipboard.  I love to use my mists to colour chipboard, especially my colour shines.  My favourites is gold.  I have found that when you spray your chipboard, you end up using a lot of mist to get a good coverage.  So alternatively, I open my bottle of spray and just let the colour drip from the tube onto the chipboard. The idea is you create a nice thick layer of colour and are not wasting any with overspray.  It takes a little bit of patience, but the effect is worth it.  You do get a better coverage this way, as compared to using a paint brush.
Here is a layout that features this technique.  I used one of the gorgeous Ornate Frames.
